Author’s comment “The Gudang Garam Surya brand has a slightly different taste to Gudang Garam Professional/International. When you first light up this cigarette, you will notice that the clove taste is rather strong compared to the other Gudang Garam variant. The crackle from the cloves burning in the cigarette is louder too as the cloves in this Gudang Garam are not as finely ground. (You can actually see some of the cloves in the cigarette itself.) About halfway through some of the cigarettes, I got a slightly unpleasent after taste, but maybe that’s bad luck. Overall they are good, other than this flavour, I would recommend trying Gudang Garam International even though it’s a bit more expensive.”

My favourite kreteks. Consistently good. If you like a strong clove taste with just a touch of sweetness, these are just right.

I absolutely love this cigarette. I wouldn’t recommend smoking it more than 4 times a day because of the amount of tar though. In moderation, this cigarette is amazing.

I was a little dissapointed with the Suryas, they failed to live up to the juicy fruit like sweetness of the professionals. They had a bitter underlying tobacco taste that the clove failed to suppress. They were much harsher than I thought on the throat and I ended up butting them halfway and smoking the rest later alot of the time. That being said the service and delivery was phenomenal. Had em in my hand within a week. Just jaw droppingly professionalism.

As a lover of Kreteks, I think these cigs are on point. Very strong, very potent flavor, and EXTREMELY enjoyable! I always hate to comment on exact flavor since I see it as something subjective to the individual smoker, but one thing that can not be doubted is the Surya 16s status as a true Kretek as far as taste goes. If you’re like me and you want a strong smoke at the end of the day, or a strong smoke to get you up and going with your coffee, these work either way. Strong and full clove flavor, fantastic body, and incredible buzz. Not for everybody, but these 100% do it for me!
